Happy National Flag Day!

For almost two centuries communities across the United States celebrated
the American flag at different times.  On August 3, 1949, President Harry
Truman signed an Act of Congress that designated June 14th of each
year as National Flag Day.

Mini blinds were cleverly repurposed into an American flag:
This flag-covered ottoman is priced at over $900!  I can't help
but think that you could buy a cotton flag, 'age' it in coffee and
use it to cover a thrift shop foot rest.

Pallet wood was used to make these two rustic flags.

Another contemporary rendition of the flag:

Weathered corrugated metal siding was

Old license plates were used to make this
replica of the American flag.

An old shutter found at Goodwill was
painted to resemble a folk art flag:

These little primitive flag pillows were made

A framed vintage replica of the
original 13 colonies flag:

"Our flag is more than just cloth and ink.  It is a universally recognized
symbol that stands for liberty and freedom,  It is the history of our nation
and it's marked by the blood of those who died defending it."
-- John Thune, U.S. Senator, South Dakota
